Diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma, and given only a few months live, Jinjin was offered hospice in the family of Oso (her buddy now). So far, Jinjin has been totally healthy, without any signs yet of aggressive recurrence of her cancer. We are so grateful to Jinjin’s foster family and her soulmate Oso.
Unless there are medical circumstances preventing spay/neuter, we spay/neuter all our rescued dogs and cats as soon as possible. (We did have a couple “oops” moments in the past, such as when Tuzi had multiple eye surgeries (successful), but we unwittingly sent him intact to his partner rescue in the US. That was embarrassing, but very rarely happens.) Manager Wu of our Shelter 2 has been in charge of spay/neutering most of our recent rescues, including these four furballs, who were spayed/neutered yesterday at Dr. Zhang’s clinic in Huairou.
UPDATE: We believe that Xiaofu is quite old, she is still fighting recurrent infections but is fairly stable at this point. Xiaofu was found by a young man who helped us a few months ago on that big rescue in Daxing (where we spent weeks rescuing puppies from drainage tunnels, under buildings, etc.). She’s got FCV — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feline_calicivirus — and is quite anemic. Dr. Jiang is doing his best to save her. I know I’m supposed to be limiting intake, but she would have been a goner left outside a few more days like this, and it’s still REALLY hard to motivate people to take responsibility. I try. I try to tell people, “Dude, you can do this! Take her to a vet. Raise some funds among friends. It’s just one cat.” But usually people just don’t believe in themselves, and say, “Well, I guess will just have to leave her outside.”
Thanks to our wonderful partner rescue in Minnesota Secondhand Hounds, Snowball, Barney, Gumby, Brandy and Lili are going to have brand new lives in Minnesota. Barney and Brandy are dog meat trade rescues, Gumby and Snowball were rescued from quite dangerous situations, and Lili was rescued while protecting her buddy, Qiaoqiao, who’d been hit by a car. These five lucky pupsters will be available for adoption via Secondhand Hounds website, so please go there if you’re interesting in adopting them!
So grateful to Dahuang’s new mom and dad! She had a rough start in her life and had several minor but chronic medical problems (ears, teeth), but how she’s got an awesome new home. Again, thanks to PAAW and TOPS in Dog Training for making this possible!
So grateful to Dove/Defu’s new parents and the wonderful team at PAAW for helping find her a forever home! Also, very grateful to the wonderful people at TOPS in Dog Training (thank you, Paula and Alex!) for providing her a place to foster while her adoptive home was found!
NEED FLIGHT VOLUNTEERS FOR FOLLOWING ROUTES * Cambodia -> Toronto * Beijing -> Toronto * Beijing -> Washington, DC * Beijing -> Paris
Flight volunteers incur no extra costs. We pay for extra baggage
fees, and do all of the preparatory work. Dogs go in the cargo hold as
excess baggage. This is a great way to help change a life.
If you are flying these routes, please contact chris@littleadoptionshop.com
Dear friends of the Little Adoption Shop. On behalf of the 700 animals we currently shelter, we really need your help. Rent for our three main shelters is due. I’m trying to raise money to pay for the rent on our #1 and #2 shelters (150,000 RMB + 80,000 RMB = 230,000 RMB) which is equivalent to 34,080 USD. We currently have a GoFundMe Fundraiser (which to date has raised 60,024 USD). If we can reach our goal of 100,000 USD, that will enough for us to make our rent for Shelters 1 and 2. We are already overdue on Shelter 1, and Shelter 2’s rent is due next week. If you can help, please donate and/or share this link with friends! https://www.gofundme.com/adoptionshop&rcid=r01-154844019843-b731155c44c248bd&pc=ot_co_campmgmt_w
