Pudong is a dog we rescued from Shanghai, where she was stray, possibly lost or abandoned. She is slightly timid at first, but is friendly to all, and has no aggression. Would be a great dog for a family with children and other pets.
When we rescued Meibao, it was a rainy day and she was cowering in a water-filled ditch, in a remote part of Shunyi district, Beijing, covered in mud, half of her body under water, having just escaped a local dog butcher, who had been chasing her. We got a call from the person who tried to rescue her, but she was so terrified she wouldn’t let anyone come near her. After I was able to get her out of the water and to safety, we were relieved to see she had no injuries. She’d been in the water and mud so long, her fur was a single shade of grey. Meibao has a sensitive personality — she’s not aggressive, but will sometimes nip at strangers. Once she accepts you as her best friend, she’s very easy to handle and super cute.
Qiangqiang was born with deformed hind legs that had to be amputated. She is able to get around on a doggie wheelchair and is quite healthy otherwise. Super friendly, affectionate old girl.
VERY SAD UPDATE: Mumu got lost from her adoptive home, and despite enormous efforts on our part, we have not been able to find her.
Mumu was either abandoned or somehow got stray. But now she has a wonderful new home with a large yard, a few animal friends, and an awesome Mom and Dad.

Sweet, former stray dog “Qiqi” went home yesterday for a trial adoption. So far, so good. His adoptive mom wanted to make sure he’s okay being separated from Keke, his bonded partner (and Keke as well). So far, so good!
Miya is a very gentle cat, approximately 2 to 3 years old. She never scratches or bites, and is good with children. She has been fostered previously in a home with kids and did great. She is vaccinated and spayed, and has no health conditions. 米亚是个非常温顺的母猫，大概2-3岁，已经绝育，健康。适合有孩子的家庭（原来的寄养家庭有孩子，没有发现问题）。她不爱抓或咬人。
We rescued Juzi along with her injured buddy Xiao Duan, and found a loving home via the amazing efforts of our volunteers.
XiaoZhuang (aka, Brother Zhuang) has been adopted by his foster mom (not pictured). We visited him in Huairou yesterday, and he still remembered us. When we rescued him, he had a seriously leg fracture, and was in a ditch for at least a day, unable to move.
We rescued this kitten last night. XiaoBei travelled in the undercarriage of a tourist’s car all the way from a resort in BaShang to Beijing (about 4 hours). They had fed her at their hotel, but didn’t realize that when they left, she’d snuck into a space above the chassis of the car. When they stopped a rest stop in Beijing, she crawled out and approached them. UNFORTUNATELY, they had no intention of taking her home with them – and were just going to leave her at the rest stop (4 hours away from her home). Thank God, my partner and I stopped in the rest area just at the moment and took her with us. Tomorrow, she is going to a foster home (thank you, Shirley!) and hopefully have a forever home soon!
Dog meat trade survivor Ricky, a disabled dog, has been fostered (with an eye towards adoption) by a wonderful fur parents and is doing really well so far in his new home!
ADOPTED!! Heizi has made a full recovery and is doing really well in his new home!

UPDATE : This morning, discovered Heizi has a low WBC count. Tested weak-positive for FPV, moving to infectious disease unit to treat. His signs otherwise are very bright, but obviously this is not good news.
UPDATE ON HEIZI’s CONDITION: UPDATE: Huge improvement! (Sept 27, 2020)
SEPT 13, 2020: We’re not sure what happened to him (obviously some kind of external trauma), but Heizi was found unable to move, all four limbs paralyzed, by a compassionate young woman, who was unable to afford to bring him to a hospital. X-rays and MRI revealed that he’d sustained an injury to his cervical vertebrae, but surgery was not a viable option. Via non-surgical treatment, he’s regained some use of his forelegs, but very little response in hindlegs.
